R.I.P. Teddy Pendergrass
R&B legend Teddy Pendergrass has passed away.
Teddy's son, Teddy Pendergrass II said that his father died Wednesday at a Philadelphia-area hospital. He said Teddy had a difficult recovery from colon cancer surgery that he had eight months ago.
Teddy Pendergrass was 59 years old.
Teddy Pendergrass began his career as a drummer, but in the 1970s, he was given the opportunity to become lead singer of the group, Harold & the Blue Notes, known for hits such as "If You Don't Know Me By Now" and "I Miss You."
Teddy eventually left the Blue Notes to embark on his solo career and was an instant hit...especially with the ladies. With hit songs like "Close the Door," "Turn Off the Lights," and "Love TKO," his deep voice and sensual lyrics was enough to make women go crazy. I can remember my mother telling me about the time she went to a Teddy Pendergrass concert. She said there were women all around throwing their underwear on stage at him. Crazy, right?
In 1982, Teddy crashed his Rolls Royce in Philadelphia. That accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. But, that didn't stop the soultry singer. He went on to release an album the following year and continued performing...wheelchair and all.
In 1998, he started the Teddy Pendergrass Alliance--a foundation dedicated to helping victims of spinal cord injuries.
Teddy Pendergrass was a pioneer in the music industry. He helped open the doors for many of the R&B/Soul singers that you know and love today...and for that, we commend him.
R.I.P. Mr. Teddy Pendergrass

Dexter star Michael C. Hall has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. The 38 year-old actor says he's being successfully treated for the disease. He says he's fortunate to have been diagnosed with a "treatable and curable condition." Michael's cancer is in complete remission, but he says, the treatment will go on as planned.
For those of you who don't watch Dexter, like myself, the show airs on Showtime and is currently going in to its 5th season. Here's a synopsis of the show, courtesy of Wikipedia:
The series follows the day to day events of Dexter Morgan's life, a forensic blood splatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department, who also happens to be a serial killer in his free time. He was taught by his adoptive father, Harry, only to kill those "who deserve it"; mainly, other killers who have escaped the traditional legal system or were never suspected in the first place. It shows him balancing an everyday life with his secret identity all while keeping up a facade of normalcy.
I hear it's a great show.
We hope you get better, Michael.
