I would not have lasted as a fan of Smallville if it had not been for Michael's intricate and beguiling performane as Lex Luthor.

He is the most passionate and intelligent incarnation of Lex ever, as well as adding a sense of humility and placidity to the role.

Although season 6 really butchered many of the characters and relationships, I still will watch season 7 knowning that Michael will do the absolute best with the questionable material he is given.

I am so glad I found this page.. lol.. when I first began watching Smallville (last summer) I was expecting something really stupid. My cousin had the seasons and I only watched them to keep myself from utter boredom. The first scene that showed Lex Luthor I immediately sat up from my slouched position on the couch. I have loved Smallville since. LOL No one I know understands why I like him.. but I am glad to know I am not the only one!! (It could just be that Michael Rosenbaum is hot... :D) but I also think he is an awesome actor and portrays Lex wonderfully. Anyhow, I just thought I would share..

Just wanted to say that Lex getting Lana pregnant would wreck both their characters. (Babies are great in real life but they suck the life out of TV shows!)

Also, I want to see Lex do more interesting things. Lana is boring.

So I started watching Smallville when it first started....I was young and liked watching the teen soap opera's...I stopped watching for a while then started watching again on season five....feeling like I had missed a lot I went out and bought season 1-4 and watched them all in less then a month and a half.....At first I wasn't hat into Lex, he was an awsome actor but knowing he was supposed to be the bad guy I didn't really give him a chance....But after a couple hours of Smallville almost every day your bound to get attatched to someone...and for me, it was Lex...I love his character!!!! He is so hott and a nice guy to meet in person!! ( I met him once in a bar) At the moment the show is irritating me just because he deserves so much better then Lana! She's hott but not what he needs, too young and immature....she doesn't understand who he is!!! Like in "Sneeze" when she gets all mad about the cameras, look at what the poor guy has been through!!!!! Anyways...I love the show and MR and JG make it what it is!

Well I´m a recent SV fan, started watching on the last 7 episodes of season 5, pretty much by accident. The show, was a bit of a joke at home, just from the tiny ads. I love TV and I love lots of shows, mostly because the plot, rather than coz of the “hottie” star or the good “acting”. Started watching coz of Lana & Clark story, which ended the 1st episode I watched. Ahahah. Still, my Tuesday 9:00 TV slot was empty, so kept watching, then I got hooked on Lex, as he has more to offer than the other main characters which for me are a bit plain.

Lex, has your mind trying to guess all the time what he will do next, what he will say, what is he thinking, is it good? Is it evil?.

Lex´s personality goes beyond his baldness, that is just a link to the meteor shower and tiny part of why he will turn bad.

Lex is good & bad, hot & not, and everything in between.

Meanwhile some other characters are pretty much the same every episode, the good guy, the researcher, etc.

I´m loving the Lex / Lana dynamics, I think it gives Lex the chance to look more human, rather than lustful and spoiled like with his other love interests. You know in couples, there are 2 choices: either one of them grow up, moves forward leaving the other-half behind, or they manage to do it together. I think it is a great chance for the Lana character to move on and grow up.

As for Michael, he is amazing (understatement), I do like him coz of his sexy (understatement, again)looks, yet I´m able to appreciate how great (understatement, again, again) he is at his craft. You are able to know when he is Michael and when he is Lex...or Adam...or Adina.

Sorority Boys? He stands out and I love it.

Michael, he is sexy with or with no hair, the most sexy thing is what he has inside his head & heart.

What am I (not) looking forward in Season 6? Well, tragic, but the thing that I know will come and I don´t like is the Comic Book Bad Lex, he actually turns into a cartoon character!!!

I enjoy Michael's performance as Lex Luthor. He is the best one to portray the character. The man is outstanding and he has made Lex Luthor come alive! Michael is gorgeous and sexy and so is Lex Luthor and it doesn't matter if he's bald or has hair, either way I love him. Michael is also very talented and I can't wait to see more of him in bigger and better things.

Without MR Smallville would not be the success it is. Many people I know, myself included, watch religiously only for Lex Luthor. His acting in this role is amazing. He can go from good to bad in the blink of an eye and yet remain believable and lovable all at the same time!
He has put his stamp on the role of Lex and now owns that. No-one could ever come close to protraying Lex like he does.
And don't get me started on his sexiness...... WOW

Years ago when Smallville was first aired, I caught a few episodes and noticed Michael Rosenbaum's portrayal of Lex Luthor. I thought, "This guy is really good." There was just something about him in that role other than the bald head.

Fast forward to this past year. I returned to Smallville and got caught up on all the seasons. Yes, Lex is sexy! Michael Rosenbaum is always fascinating to watch. He brings so many levels of complexity to Lex Luthor.

I was especially intrigued by his journey toward the "dark side." In life, although we have the final choice, experiences leave an idelible mark on us. Many things stop being black and white...I love the shades of grey that MR infuses into Lex.

I have to admit, I don't want to see Lex turn completely evil. If it has to happen (and I know it does), I think there should be a final titanic struggle between his good and evil sides. Maybe not literally (as in "Onyx"), but figuratively.

And, what happened to Clark and Lex? The dynamic between them is what drives the show. How come we haven't seen any interaction between them (other than when Lex was inhabited by Zod in the opener) this season so far? At the end of "Zod," Clark tells his mother that he can't talk to Lex. I wish the writers and producers could have shown this.

I'd like to see them both try to regain a friendship, then a final straw that turns them into enemies.

Oh..and the question of hair. The bald look is sexy, but I also like MR with hair...just not too much of it (never liked facial hair). Loved him in his other work I've seen so far (Sorority Boys and Sweet November).

Michael, 34, seems to find a better woman. I don't know what type of woman will he get: older or younger, white or Filipina. Whatever.

I love Lex but I really hope the rumour that he gets Lana pregnant isn't true. My little sister looks up to Lana and to have her get pregnant because she wasn't smart enough to use birth control would set a really bad example for the younger kids who watch Smallville.

I'm looking forward to Lex meeting Oliver!

First post here, as I have just found it. (Thanks much, Cyndaquil.) I feel awful. I would've posted long ago had I known, with words expressing how much I adore MR and his portrayal of Lex Luthor, echoing what's already been said here.

I love Lex. He's complex and tortured, misunderstood and searching - for love, his path. He's making his way still and the journey he's on is one that's riveting, heartbreaking, fascinating. To know his fate, and to see the man before us. How do you marry the two? Understanding THAT is no doubt what draws us in, and Michael explores this with each performance.

I hope we return to episodes that explore the "why" behind Lex's actions. His relationship with Lana, to me, is a beautiful one and I understand it, why he would want/seek/hold onto such a love, but I would also love an episode (or more) that explored this further. This dream. Maybe even one day from Lana asking herself. A conversation like they had in "Lockdown", with some of what Lex thinks and feels, and lives with day to day said aloud so that he and Lana, or he and Clark, or he and Lionel, can talk about it, address it, question it, and all the while, we the fans will get to hear it. :)

Lionel and Lex. Clark and Lex. Lex/Lana. I hope S6 will give us all these and more. And lastly, just I guess, thank you to Michael Rosenbaum. You make so many people happy!!

Lex is awesome. It's my favorite character, and I really like the whole Lex and Lana relationship. :)

I adore Lex and MR but I do miss the complexity his character had in seasons 1 - 3. The pairing with Lana doesn't work for me, since it has sacrificed his intelligence and his air of mystery. Rather than doing interesting things like re-building Luthorcorp or pursuing his experiments, Lex spends a lot of time just standing around with her, offering up exposition in words of one syllable. I miss Clever Lex!

(Michael Rosenbaum is always great though. Looking forward to his directorial debut!)

Although I grew up loving the Superman and Superboy comics, I wouldn't bother with the Smallville show at all if it hadn't been for Michael Rosenbaum's stunning performance as Lex Luthor.

Michael Rosenbaum is so, SO hot. His glare could melt ice it is that intense. Magnetic. Charismatic. Talented.

Michael is wonderful. His talent is so amazing and huge. I love watching him on SV every week as Lex. he owns that role for sure! And I agree with the person who said bald has never been so sexy. I think I enjoy him more without the hair then with it.

Mike is a great super villain. I really love him as Zod. Keep it up - wonderful!!

Yes I agree. MR is the best actor on Smallville and Lex is the best/worse villian. When he became possessed by Zod I actually felt scared. I kept playing the scene over and over to see what caused that reaction and I realized all MR did was blink his eyes. He is so intense. I love him.

although i'm a superman fanatic, and was only 11 when i started watching smallville when it premiered in 2001,i still love michael rosenbaum. he's a really good actor.he's the best lex luthor ever...and he has a lot of chemistry with his co-stars. he's also great at his role, being sarcastic and obnoxious when he has to. and i know he turns out to be clark kent's arch enemy, and i will always hate LEX LUTHOR from the richard donner Superman films, but i will never hate mikey...he he...

Michael Rosenbaum is an amazingly talented and diverse actor. He brought a complexity to the character of Lex Luthor that will be difficult to exceed (sorry, Kevin). He has great chemistry with Tom Welling and John Glover (and pretty much any actor he is paired with) and I can't wait to see the evolution of his character in S6. Oh, and I love him with hair or without! Bring on Evil Lex!!

Just a comment about a lady who thought the world of Lex (Michael); she traveled to Florida, from California, to see him at a book signing - presented him with a cross-stitch picture of him and his TV father; she then died 4 weeks later (very tragically). It was great that she got to meet the love of her life! (smile) before passing... Her name is Bambi and I am writing this for her!! She would definitely have described her fascination with and love of this great actor from Smallville!

I honestly think he portrays the best Lex Luthor I've seen. Unlike other versions, the Smallville Lex is especially conflicted (good vs evil), and MR plays that perfectly. His "good guy" Lex comes off as genuine and sympathetic, but when he shows his evil side (like Onyx) he plays that just as brilliantly.

i love lex luthor (mr) he is so hot and i think hes wat makes smallville such a good show and a hit i hope to c that lexana will last 4ever cuz lex (mr) and lana (kk)look AWESOME TOGETHER and they have the hots for each other they both look good with each other and i hope they go out for real... o yeah for me personally i think mr looks good with or witout hair hes just sexy! o yeah mr can soooo act and i cant wait to c him in the next season...but i think him turning into a baddie can wait cuz then clark and him will be the enemies they were to become and i dont want to c smallville end ... I LOVE SMALLVILLE AND MR OF COURSE!!

I've always felt that MR as Lex is what really gave Smallville its center. He was an interesting and nuanced character and his evolution into a villain has been gradual and layered and well done.

As for the whole aesthetic appeal issue, he definitely has charisma and hotness as Lex...but DANG he is amazing in the picture you posted! Please let him do some stunt casting WITH the hair (my favorite show, Veronica Mars, would be just fine, thanks).

I admit that I am a new SV fan, I've been catching the reruns for the last couple of months so I don't know all of the history on it...but I do say that Lex is my fav character on the show. Since I am used to seeing him without hair, I think he looks funny when I see pics of him with hair...so I guess my vote is without hair.

Oh Lex Luthor! He just needs some love! MR's character is complex and he does a wonderful job. The baldness is just gorgeous. :)

Way to give a shout-out to Lex! Far and away the best character on the show (and somehow hotter than pretty boy Tom Welling!). Forget Sorority Boys though. Give me his five minute performance in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil!
