Veronica Mars: Cheating Galore

It’s all about cheating this week on Veronica Mars – cheating on tests, cheating on papers, cheating on spouses, even cheating on a rape accusation, which is exceedingly odd. Take this week's poll!

Yep, it seems like Claire staged her head-shaving rape because… ok, we’re not entirely clear on the why. To raise awareness? To get the Lampoon in trouble? As an experiment for sociology? Because she’s insane? At any rate, she gets expelled, and Nish gets kicked out of the editor’s position at the paper because she’s willing to print stories implicating frat houses but not ones that expose fraudulent rapes.

Both women think this is all Veronica’s fault. We think it’s their own stupidity that got them in trouble. Seriously – who stages their own rape? What possible good did Claire expect to come out of it? That’s some messed-up stuff.

Moving on – Wallace gets caught cheating on his mechanical engineering test, and confesses all. He’s given the option to drop the class, but decides not to take it. Instead, he quits the basketball team for the season so he can concentrate on his studies. Improbably, he keeps his scholarship. Apparently only the football coaches are mean to students who actually want to study. Oh, and did anyone else find the prof’s comment that he usually don’t take athletes in his class condescending?

Veronica writes the only A paper in her criminology class, and her prof wants to be a mentor – she’s got crime-busting skills! (Dude, haven’t you been paying attention for the last two seasons?) But Veronica gets accused of plagiarizing said paper. The ensuing investigation touches on class warfare, classroom warfare, and Logan’s friendly relationship with the chick at the front desk. Veronica clears her name, but has a lot to think about.

The final cheats: Keith cheats death (and what is it with the CW and out-of-nowhere car crashes this year? It’s freaky!) and ends up getting it on with Harmony, who’s cheating on her husband. Plus, the criminology prof? He’s cheating with the Dean’s hot young wife. Not a good career move, dude.

Good ep this week - back to the VM I know & love (I actually thought about what went on ) - too bad people that don't normally watch VM barely found out that it was a couple of mytery cases, not some intense "break up" (implied by the commercial) of Logan & Veronica. Just because we have sit through GG sap for the previous hour doesn't mean promoter dude has too make us feel there's another hour of this

Last nights ep was awesome. Loved every bit of it. I think V & Logan are going to end up happily ever after.

Where is weevil, he is the man... need more of weevile, so he can beat up piz, cuz he is annoying.

Well i agree with everyone basically. VERY BAD Promo. I Love Veronica Mars Though, Shes a tough Chick. Cant Wait For Next Week's Episode.

I really liked last night's episode. Veronica actually showed some real compassion towards someone (Parker) for the first time in a long time.

Piz needs to step back from Veronica. He knows she has a boyfriend, yet he asks her out on a date? And then he tells her Parker isn't his type. It's barely even started and it's already getting old. I think him and Parker would make a cute couple. Speaking of couples, I have absolutely no problem with Veronica and Logan's relationship as it is. I know that they will always be rocky, but I just want them to be together. I know, I'm sappy.

Wallace taking time off of basketball was very surprising. It doesn't really seem in character for him. I know that he wants to be a mechanical engineer and all, but he LOVES basketball. I can't believe he's going to be able to keep his scholarship as well. Nice, Hearst.

Keith sleeping with a married woman made me sad. He's been on the other end of a cheating spouse, and he knows what that feels like. I can see why Veronica would be disappointed in his behavior. His car crash scared the crap out of me though. It still shouldn't have made him go sleep with a married woman though...:)

I think Mercer is a red herring. But, I like how progress is being made with the rape case.

Tim the T.A. took a pretty risky step in accusing Veronica of cheating just so he could show her what Professor Landry does on his off hours. I know he was trying to help her, but I'm sure there was a better way. And the creepy bulletin board makes weirds me out.

The promo for next week freaks me out. Hope it's not another cop-out like last week's promo. ;)

It's all about getting CHEATED on the ratings too...2.82 million! That's horrible!!! Be sure to thank Dr. House when you see him.

Awesome episode. Best so far. Can't wait till next week, and the week after, and the week... you get what I mean. Give us our back 9 already!

What was WITH that preview for this week's episode? It was totally misleading! It was a great episode, but why was the promo for it totally off?

This week's promo was totally misleading. Veronica and Logan didn't even seem to have that conversation. I really liked this week's episode and am intrigued to where RT is leading us. As far as Veronica and Logan go, I am a total LoVe fan. However, the show is called Veronica Mars not Logan & Veronica. The promo department need to promote the whole show and not just one aspect of it. Regarding the comments about LoVe needing to break up. I am just along for the ride. As long as the two continue to interact on the show and at the end of the run (which I hope will be a long, long time from now) Veronica and Logan are together, I will go along for the ride.

I think that Logan and Veronica need to finally break up. Get her back to her single, witty self. But please, please, please do not do a breakup/makeup thing with them. That is really old.
I agree, the keeping the scholarship thing is improbable, but it's nice to imagine it could happen.
Keep the shows comin!!!

I agree - the promo made the ep seem very emo and all about Veronica and Logan's relationship and it wasn't.

I guess following a trail of a college paper is harder to advertise but, it was a top knotch episode. There could have been something.

Great ep - still loving this show a LOT.

So. Much. Better!

Thank goodness the old school Veronica Mars was back last night. This episode brings me hope for the rest of the season. Next week looks to continue the trend. Excellent!

However ... promo guy? Way to create the most misleading promo EVER. Seriously. Promos make or break shows with new viewers, and the promo for this week's episode was just way, way off. Bad Promo Guy.
