Hollywood Comes to Smallville

Did anyone else get the feeling that maybe Smallville's writers were talking to us? Not the CW Source (we hope), but fans in general - especially mouthy fans who say mean things about superhero girlfriends. You'd almost think the folks behind the show don't want to hear us talk about how the show doesn't match the comic book, or that when they change something, they're destroying our childhood. Go figure.

Despite our sneaking suspicion that the writers were making fun of us, we enjoyed the episode -- but how can you not enjoy a show that involves imprisoned billionaires, Hollywood hijinks, stealthy reporting skills, crazed fans and heaving bosoms? What did you think? Vote in our polls, and share your thoughts in the comments!

We were loving the Hollywood-comes-to-Smallville story -- although we can't help but wonder why Clark would let a gazillion people with cameras swarm all over the farm when he's trying to keep a low profile. And if he had to rent out the farm as a movie set, why did he keep driving fence posts into the ground with his bare hands? It's like he wants to get caught!

And that's just what he did, when he saved starlet Rachel Davenport from certain death several times. It was kind of a mixed blessing that the guy who figured it out was a crazed comics fan - on the one hand, he figures the best way to help Clark reach his destiny is to knock off Lana. That's not good. On the upside, he's crazy devoted enough that he won't give away Clark's secret - not even when confronted by mint-condition back-issues of Warrior Angel. (By the way, we first realized the guy had to be nuts when he sent Clark issue five of Warrior Angel. That must have been worth big bucks!)

What did you think of Christina Milian (who will be returning to the CW later on in the show Eight Days a Week) as Rachel? We liked her fine, but the "practicing her lines" scene when she jumps Clark was a little over the top. And did you notice she kept reading Shakespeare between takes? We guess we're supposed to think that she's more than just a pretty face. We sure hope Chloe got the interview with her, though - she needs a leg up at the Planet.

Speaking of that, what did you think of Lois in investigative mode? Pretty slick the way she broke into Lex's office, but we're a little disappointed she didn't pick up on the fact that every third person in Smallville has the initials "LL." Does she not know Lana is back form the dead, or did it just not occur to her that Lana may be more devious than she appears?

And yes, she is devious. We were surprised to find out that she'd been keeping Lionel captive in a secluded cabin with only a pot-growing crazy woman with a penchant for bear traps to take care of him. Just seeing Lionel made us cheer - we love the guy! And oof, but the scene where he slooooooooowly drags his hand out of the bear trap just made us squirm. Bleh.

Why do you think Lana was keeping Lionel captive? What's the deal with Grant's insistence that Lois stay away from the Luthors? Can a superhero have a lasting relationship? Tell us what you think about all of that, and the rest of the episode, in the comments!

smallville is cool because clark is a hero

Clark needs to forget about Lana. It is time for Lois and Clark.

Clark really loves Lana and would do anything for her. They are a hot couple but Lana is so shady...it makes you wonder why she wants to be with Clark- is it love or an alterior motif (money, pay back to Lex...)?

Clark loves Lana no matter what.

garsh. it's soooooooo great to see john glover again. sigh. boy, adam is ONE lucky guy!

I loved all the Lois scenes, particularly Lois going undercover. She's still learning but she's making strides and I really want more Lois-Lex interaction.

I loved that while Lois was caught and shaken she didn't let that get to her. I loved that she was watching Lex's reactions throughout her questioning. And I really don't think it never occurred to Lois that Lana would be involved, for one its been said before that she thought highly of Lana and it comes back to what Clark said earlier in the episode: 'I guess people don’t see what they don’t think is possible.'

For the moment Lois doesn't think its possible for Lana to be capable of shady deeds, just like Clark (for the moment, though the seeds of doubt have been planted) doesn't think Lana is capable of such actions.

I'm actually quite intrigued how they'd play out Lana's arc. I confess I love dark!Lana more than I thought possible.

I LOVE SMALLVILLE! MY FAVORITE CHARATERS IN ORDER ARE CLARK KENT, LANA LANG,CLOE , KARA , AND LEX LUTHOR.

I actually wished this episode had satirized the fans more - the scenes relating to the movie were less fun than I'd expected.

Usually, Lana bores me but shovel-wielding, Lionel-torturing Lana is much more fun than Bland Lana. I hope she continues her descent into villainy.

Lex was cute with his comic books. And Clark was cute fending off Christina Milian.

I dont wont Clark` and Lana`s relationship spoilt again and again by the script writers.!!!

Yes he can be a superhero and be with Lana if she understands him.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE ITS ALL COMIC BOOK STUFF

No woman would let Clark go!
