Smallville: Introducing Supergirl

We finally got to meet the mysterious Woman of Steel, and boy, was it a hoot! We kind of love Kara, even if she does look down on humans. Still, it was good to see that Clark can think on his feet -- we loved watching him grab her leg when she tried to fly away. Can't use the same trick too many times, it seems.

Poor Kara was a bit confused: Last she knew, Krypton was hunky-dory and Kal-El was a little kid. Now she's confronted by a grown man, and she gets the news the Krypton is in little pieces. No wonder it took her a while to get her bearings.

Still, she adapts. What did you think of the scene when she absorbed all the energy from her exploding ship? Pretty darn cool. But we have to admit, we were a bit concerned when Jor-El told Clark that Kara was dangerous. What's going on there? Also, we're a little concerned about shadowy government organizations getting their hands on her crystal, though -- that can't be good. Better than Lex, we guess.

Speaking of Lex -- he's out of jail and moving on from Lana. We were surprised he didn't try to get any revenge on her when he tracked her down to China. We were also more than a little skeeved out that he just happened to have Lana clones lying around, as a backup. And we can't help but think that Lex wouldn't be doing so well with Lana's leaving him if he didn't have another woman to fixate on -- Kara.

Things are getting tense at the Daily Planet, too. The new editor (Michael Cassidy, who we love) seems like a bit of a schmuck -- what's with his whole "Newspapers don't have feelings" speech? Still, it was enough to get Lois motivated. But oh, we're thinking things are going to get tense at the Daily Planet now that Chloe and Lois are working right next to each other. That's bound to be interesting.

What did you think of the episode? Are you liking the addition of Kara and Grant? Do you think Kara is secretly eeeeevil? How tense are things going to get at the Daily Planet? Vote in our polls, then tell all in the comments!

How can i get HD channel 33? I have a plasma and i see them say in hd where available so how do i get it?

Everyone keeps on saying that Chole is just for this show and not from the comics. I don't know about that. I've caught a couple of times where she was called Cat.

Cat was a rival to Lois at work and in the love department. She also flirted heavilly with Jimmy Olson. I'm kind of interested to see if they go all out that route and start sexing Chloe up.

Catherine "Cat" Grant is a fictional character in Superman comics. She was introduced in Adventures of Superman #424 (Jan 1987) as a gossip columnist for the Daily Planet. She was introduced as a potential love interest for Clark Kent, adding a new dimension to the Clark/Lois/Superman dynamic. She was a divorcee, whose husband had driven her to drink, and was also a single parent with a young son called Adam.

Cat went undercover at Galaxy Broadcasting to help Clark expose Morgan Edge's links to Intergang. Following this she needed a bodyguard and Jose Delgado (aka the costumed vigilante Gangbuster) took the job. The two became romantically linked, but Jose was resented by Cat's son Adam, who still hero-worshipped her ex-husband.

Cat joined WGBS for real, and became station manager, although there were some rumours she got the position thanks to a relationship with Morgan's father Vinnie Edge. At around the same time Adam was killed by the Toyman, almost driving her back to drink, however she managed to pull through. She also ended the rumours when she had Edge charged with sexual harassment.

When Lex Luthor became President of the United States of America, Cat was appointed Press Secretary. Following his impeachment her current position is unknown.

I think the writers have ruined smallville and esp Lana`s character. I dont blame MR for leaving next season. Tom isnt such a nice guy as everyone is lead to believe.
Believe it or not Tom some girls would prefer Clark then Tom!

CHAO

This season has been much better than last season so far. Since it's actually getting some where. Still though there is some bad writing. The writers really need to learn when they have done enough with a character.

They have done way way way too much with Lana. She's just supposed to be someone Clark liked when he was younger. They write about her as if she's a delicate religious figure that we should all worship. I mean why the hell did Lex clone her when he was getting the real thing at the time. I can see him cloning Clark even and that would've been an engaging story. But cloning Lana was...pointless and stupid.

The show did convenient memory loss way too much and now we get....convenient cloing. Lana faked her own death by putting a clone's body in the car. That's just awful. Now Clark meets...a Lana clone in the next episode....duh duh...dumb!

Pfft, the only thing I liked about the 2 episodes of Smallville season 7 so far is that Michael Rosenbaum is 2nd in the credits.
Other than that, pretty much everything is a let-down.

1. Having Lois rush off again with Chloe at death's door on Bizarro didnt sit well with me (and I'm a Lois fan) Lois just barely got out of grave trouble and now she's gonna dive back in??? Hello writers? WTF are you doing?
Couldnt you wait for Chloe to die and then send Lois on her one-man revenge crusade after Lex hmm?

2. yeah have Clark reflect on himself and his actions, yeah I expect him to forget about em next week and repeat season 6 all over again.

3. Blonde on Lana........... XD

4. ok you've ruined Lana's character, fine, stop ruining Lex! I'm still waiting for him to become evil, I love Lex as good or evil or mixture of both, but please, lets move the story forward??? Kara saving Lex is a rip-off the the Pilot episode, so what now Lex is gonna obsess over Kara?

5. these new credits pretty much suck. The clips are the worst selected ever. And it all seems rushed.
Jimmy & Kara's credits are ok though.

6. Lois getting into DP through idiot young new editor......I'm not gonna touch that.
Congrats on fucking up all canon characters, pat yourselves on the back & give your pathetic asses a raise.

7. And hey where are the rest of the seasonal promos by the way??

I now understand where those guys (chloisers) are coming from, really I do.
I dont believe in that theory.
Its shippers wanting their ship to sail under a new name OR wanting their fav character to become another character. Its not a theory, just fans wishful biased-thinking.

ALMiles created Chloe for the show, she is their character and out of the other characters Chloe has had the most career developmemt and is the know-all-go-to source for Clark. (e.g she comes up with future Superman references e.g the first to call Kara "Supergirl", says that Lois should drop the 'bandit' on her article "The Green Arrow Bandit" and etc I'm not gonna list them all) and why the hell is a non-canon character in the DP when the 2 most important characters in the Superman mythos arent? answer me that?
A plot device to get them interested in jouralism? well so far she has done a bang up job.

Chloe hasnt done a thing wrong since season 3 where she made a deal with Lionel.
And all I see is fans bash Lana, Clark, Lex, Lois and ALMiles for messing up the canon and characters, but not their own perfect creation; Chloe?
So they've got the audience rooting for their own character and not the canon characters that this show is based on?
They've turned fans agaist Lana. (I still like Lana btw) for what? to make fans like the other women in Clark's life or for drama or what? the writers personally hate her character???

Its just that to me the writers are sloppy with the canon characters.
Their attitude is,
"oh well doesnt matter how much we stuff them up because one day they'll be great, so its not like we have alot of work to do to build these characters up, its written in stone that they'll become who they're destined to be so we dont have to stick purely to canon"
So very unprofessional.

It comes off to me that they have intentionally written Lana to be hated.
And Lois has been written poorly compared to their goldenchild; Chloe.
Even Pete was written out of the show, when "he" is meant to be Clark's best friend, not Chloe.
They kill off characters (e.g Johnathan, Alicia, Ryan, Raya etc) and still hardly a change in Clark.
I just feel robbed that characters I was looking forward to seeing develop (Clark, Lex, Lois) would be just chucked around in this show (they've ruined all canon characters but Jimmy IMO to early to say anything about Kara).

I am really close on giving up on SV seriously.
I'm so glad I never grew up loving Superman, I should just stick to Batman, atleast he always bounces back better than ever when he gets dragged through the mud.

kara is FREAKING HOT

I am enjoying the Smallville new season so far.. i love the Supergirl aspect of it, they chose the right girl for the job I loved her role as Sadie on Instant Star. this is proving to become in my opinion the best season yet.

Laura is great as Kara and I'm enjoying her rapport with Clark.

Why can't Lana's boring ass stay in China? The show is much better without her!

the producers need to hire actors w/a bit more acting chops, especially since MR is leaving at the end of this season. don't yet have an opinion on LVV's acting. super girl's performance seems less than super and rather milquetoast; not sure if that's the result of the script? if it's not the script, then my opinion seems to be forming in the direction of "not favorable." i hope LVV will have the opportunity to show us her acting skill if she so possesses any. what say you producers and writers?

as for michael cassidy, i'm really not sure what the point is in having cast him as a DP editor. the character is already rubbing me the wrong way and i'm not terribly impressed w/cassidy as an actor. i'm unfamiliar w/his prior acting work so i'm seeing him "act" for the first time.

neither for that matter, am i impressed with aaron ashmore. not sure why, but that guy just gets on my nerves. he's a pest. i hope the writers give him something substantial to play. writers: what are your plans for his character development? or do you have any for jimmy olsen?

I actually missed last weeks episode and I wanted to know if they are going to rerun the episode. I raelly want to see it. Mike in Chicago, IL.

Everything they do in Smallville uses elements from the Superman comics past and present and I like the way they do it. Bizarro was great and Kara is going to be just fine. Some viewers just don't get it. This is comic book stuff! Not everything is going to make total sense, but that's OK. Just relax and enjoy it. This is the best interpretation of the Superman lore ever done. The quality of production and special effects reminds me a lot of the X-Files. I love the show!

I love supergirl I can't wait for more.

hello. unlike some comments, i'm liking this season. however, i do feel and agree the super girl actress can improve on her acting. she just has to have a little more fun. i do wish the producers or directors can have supergirl fly a little better. it's the way she starts flying is little bit of a turn off to me. she should have some style when she starts her flight. hopefully the smallville crew is listening right now. back to how the season is for me so far. i like it. every season in this 7 year long saga has its own style. however, every season should be bigger and better as it goes along. the crew should always remember season 5...it was intense all the way, and that's what made it the best season yet. but, like i said be4, i really liked the season premiere, and i did like episode 2. i'm guessing the theme of this season is supergirl, the white house, and her crystal. I wonder what'll happen in the end. and i wonder when milton fine will come back when lex opens that key...well 1st he has to put it together again. lol. anyways, i am getting way ahead of myself here.
see you later guys.

Great episode!
I enjoyed all Clark & Kara scenes a lot.
It's good that Clark has family around, loved when Kara was telling him about Krypton and how she knew his mother.
And I love how Clark is acting around her, he's more mature. Teaching her how to use superhearing was cool.
Effects were nice. That scene when Kara looked down at Earth from space - wonderful.
Perfect casting with Laura. I especially enjoyed her in the scene when Clark was telling her how Krypton exploded.

So glad Lois got a chance to show her passion for journalism.
New editor is a bit brutal and irritating (and looks too young), but I'm glad he recognized the potential for greatness in her and gave her a chance.
Looking forward to more.

Not the best episode for Chloe. But hopefully this will motivate her to spend more time writing articles, and less time doing research for Clark.

And how cool was it when Clark figures out on his own right away how to find the ship? :)

Lex and Lana scene was interesting.
Personally I don't believe his remorse, and I think he's playing here.
Should be interesting to see how that turns out.

"One of my favorite moments was when Clark stepped back when he realized him and Kara were cousins."

that was my favourite moment too...

tom did a fantastic job both in this epi and 'bizarro'.
Love Kara's atitude, bad a$$.. no rules.. but she as to learn to control herself around humans.
Still can't figure out how Lex found Lana but hey...

the epi was awesome! cant wait for the next ones! ;p

After a good start to the season, I was very disappointed that this episode was so LAME.

It seems Laura Vandervoort has little else to do except walk around in low-cut tops and short shorts. And her acting? Worse than Kristin Kreuk's, Season 1.

Never really watched much of SV (and didn't watch the premiere) but wasn't kara IN an episode already?

And wasn't she Adrienne Palicki from Supernatural and Friday Night Lights?

One of my favorite moments was when Clark stepped back when he realized him and Kara were cousins.

hey everyone, i missed the episode last night. does anyone know where i can go to watch it online??

So all you have to do is walk into the Daily Planet and start ranting about space ships and the editor will take notice? Alrighty then.....

That was the most UN-epic and pathetic way they could have possibly written Lois into the DP.
