Aliens in America: The Lamest Float
We asked which show you want us to cover more here on The Source, and Aliens in America is currently leading the vote totals. So beginning this week, we'll have regular coverage of Aliens up every Tuesday after the new episodes air. Enjoy!
Aliens in America took on the sacred American tradition of homecoming this week -- and we laughed our butts off. It's always fun to see how accurately the writers skewer high school, as well as geopolitics.
We loved the battle over the homecoming floats -- poor Justin; it was his only opportunity to shine, and then Raja had to (unintentionally) ruin it for him! It all worked out in the end, but that's just the sort of battle that seems hugely important when you're in high school.
Also hugely important? Getting the right dress, no matter what your age. Poor Franny -- she refuses to believe she's growing older. Poor Gary -- he's just realized his daughter is growing up, and that's going to make things complicated. Good thing everyone got what they wanted -- Claire got a great dress, and Franny and Gary got to keep the dress that caused so much excitement.
But our favorite parts of the episode had to be the sly pokes at the American education system. We wish we could blame a teacher with a wired jaw for students not being able to pick out a country on a globe. We also loved Mr. Matthews flipping out when he discovered the teen sex theme for the float. Possibly our favorite part of the episode? The Palladino brothers finding the giant unity heads and then screaming about how those silly Caucasians should go back to their own country and stop taking our jobs, while Justin muses that perhaps the teen sex float came too late for the Palladinos' parents. Hee!
