Smallville's Creators Leave the Show!

We're in shock after reading this news from TV Guide's Michael Ausiello: Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar will be leaving the series when this season ends.

The duo didn't give a reason for their departure, saying only "After much heartache and debate, we have decided it is time for us to move on." They also directly addressed the fans of the show: "To the fans who have stuck with us through the highs and the lows, know this — we never stopped fighting to make this show great. Thanks for watching."

its sad to dee them leave, but i think the show would do fine for another season i hope. there is enough superman fans out there to make the show great for one more season.

Only one thing needs to be said fellow followers "We shall see what happens!" I've been amazed to this point of the progression of the "Superman Biography" and it will not be easy to fool us hardcore followers so to the new guys just beware that if the quality doesn't remain consistent you'll see ratings go down faster than Kim Kardashian!

WOW. really sad to see this happen. however, the new exec. producers of the show were/are writers who have written some excellent episodes, at least i enjoyed them. i can deal with change so long as the writing remains solid and fresh. if not, the CW has lost this viewer. i'll definitely give Season 8 a chance.

all the best and good luck to al and miles. they have everything to be proud of. if they ever create another show, i'll be there watching and supporting them. one thing i know for sure, these two guys deliver quality product(s). other networks out there would be well advised to contract them for future projects.

No kristin No michael No Al miles No BUY!

It's sad to see the guys leave because they been doing Smallville for so long, but at least they stayed for most of season 7. Every things changing in Smallville.

NO KRISTIN NO BUY
NO MICHAEL NO SHOW
NO AL/MILES NO QUALITY!

I'd really like to know the truth behind all this. And yes, I've really been annoyed with the neverending Lanaville which a majority of viewers have always hated. Nor have I ever cared for Erica Durance as "Lois" and I suspect the network was behind bringing someone named Lois to the shgow and for hiring her.

There have been hits and misses and really awful eps like Promise which comepletely trashed Clark's character and tried to make Lana a martyr when, if you've really paid attention you know she isn't. You couldn't pay me to watch Promise or Crimson again nor either of the eps with the horrific Clana sex. That was simply nauseating.

But there have been really great eps as well and Miller and Gough were behind those, too. Millar and Gough created the show, had the original vision and it is usually not a good idea to change creative staff, especially as the series is winding down. It's also unsettling to see Souders and Peterson now at the helm when they were responsible for the crap that was Promise and Crimson; that is rewarding writers for something that should never have been written to begin with.

Bottom line is it seems wrong to get rid of the people who created the show and hand it over to someone else unless they truly are just wanting to move on and this all seemed way too sudden and out of the blue to really be that.

There are a lot of story arcs that should be tied up after seven years and I fear they will be left hanging if such a drastic change is made at the last minute. I've been waiting to see Clark dump Lana and accept being the hero he was always meant to be without remorse. I've been waiting to see Chloe perservere and finally be rewarded for her hard work at the Daily Planet and her unwavering support of the hero all these years. I want to see Lana finally get what she deserves for all her kidnapping and torturing people and for "Lois" to suffer the consequences of being hired at the Daily Planet wihtout any qualifications or merit. It's an heroic tale and it's time to see good rewarded, evil punished and the lazy and uneducated learn they have to work hard to get what they want instead of getting unearned handouts. It's time for all these things to come to pass and I think the original producers of this show should be the ones to do it.

I think it sucks. Bad. I don't care how much I bitched, moaned, and groaned about the Goughlar, but this is their vision. Their story, and I want to see the ending THEIR WAY.

I have to say I'm not really thrilled about this, this was their vision, their baby and to see them go is really sad.
Also well, I can't help to worry about the direction the show is going to take now.

Without Michael R. and John Glover, doubts about Allison Mack also being at the show I'm just depressed:(.

Without Al Gough and Miles Millar I just don't know if my show is going to continue as My show.
Be well and take care.

I'm really sad, i've always liked their job. Of course there were episodes that i didn't like much but i've wanted to see *their* end to Smallville since season 1. I'm disappointed.

And with no Michael Rosembaum and Allison Mack signed, i don't think season 8 will be worth watching.

I am very worried that the show is going to sink fast without them. They've made big mistakes, but they've also written some of my absolute favorite parts of the show.

I'm very worried also about Allison Mack not being signed for S8 yet. It seems like the CW is just being so short sighted and ungrateful to the people who made Smallville a hit. They're the ones who have been there from the beginning.

And then Peterson came out with horrible sounding story ideas for S8. If Allison isn't in S8, I'm out. She's the only reason I watch now.

I'm really unhappy. Everything I've heard makes me think SV is going to stink next year.

I just can't believe there's going to BE another season. I watched every episode up until they decided to do an entire story around Stride. The Acuvue and Yaris placements were bad enough, but the Stride EPISODE? That's when they lost me, and honestly I should have stopped watching long before that.

I'm pretty bummed. I didn't watch this series to have new guys come in to do their own thing. This is AlMiles show, and their vision, not the new guy's.

Did no one learn anything from Gilmore Girls? I don't want this show to go out as a joke, with a different vision and feel than the seven seasons that came before.

I'd like to say I'm shocked and upset, but I'm pleased - but only because it's apparent now that they know things are not going the way they should have. I've stuck around out of loyalty, when I really wanted to up and leave after season 4, but I continued watching, hoping there'd be something salvageable. I think Gough and Millar are getting blamed for a lot of things that aren't their fault, which is unfortunate.

This cements it, though - I won't be watching next season. With three main characters leaving the show, and now the creators taking off as well, I've got no reason to watch. Tom Welling has never known how to act, and if he's the last remaining vestige of what was once a promising show, then there's no reason for me to keep pretending I'm enjoying it.

I wish Gough and Millar luck, however, in any and all future endeavors.

i'm totally shocked but they haven't really been very hands on since season 4 started (and the show went really downhill IMO) - sad they don't stick it out and TAKE the helm for it's final year

the show will not be the same
i hope that they will come back
i will watch still watch the show
tom welling your are one of my favorite actor
love nibbi

Ditto. They completely ruined the show. Good riddance.

If the rumours are true this might be a WB move following the Superman ruling. Who knows any more....

I think it sucks. If you have producers who have been able to carry a show for this long and still keep it successful and interesting, then you don't mess with that. I just hope however takes over will continue with their vision.

I'm so relieved they're finally gone. I may be able to watch the show again next season!
